I was recently featured in The New Zealand Listener Magazine to give my advice for their cover story on kiwis leaving their corporate roles to start their own business, and it got me thinking about when is the right time for a business owner to get help in business?
The answer is NOW – no matter what stage you are at, get business advice – be it from a business coach, mentor or consultant!
As a business owner going out on your own, getting a team around you to give you advice, mentor or coach you is one of the most crucial keys to success, and can make the difference between surviving in business… and not.
As a small business owner, we often have so much passion for what we do, and are experts at what we do – but no one teaches you how to run a business, which is why it is SO important to get business help early on!
At a speaking engagement recently, I was asked “If you could do one thing differently when you started out in business – what would it be?” and the first thing I thought of was to get advice early on. I managed on my own, but if I had got help from the get-go, I would have saved myself a lot of time, money and stress, and avoided making expensive mistakes.
So if you’re a small business owner or entrepreneur, then have a read of this great New Zealand Listener article – and take advantage of the advice from prominent kiwi business owners and experts…
